Crafting Intuitive Experiences

Hey, I’m Joanna. I’m a San Francisco-based creative consultant specializing in strategic product, experience, and visual design.

With a strategic approach and an empathetic perspective, I excel at seamlessly merging experience and product design across emerging tech domains such as automotive, scientific,  and telecommunications industries, and across physical and digital environments.

  • My design process prioritizes a deep understanding of user needs. Through qualitative research, co-creation, and ideation, I generate diverse perspectives and innovative concepts. These ideas evolve into tangible solutions through wireframing and prototyping, validated by usability testing. Iteration, guided by user feedback and data insights, refines designs in a meticulous, empathy-driven approach, aligning end products with business objectives and empowering users.

  • I generally work within Design Thinking and Human-Centered Design frameworks, and always cater my approach and additional methodologies and activities to the unique needs of the project. I'm seasoned in Agile environments and have navigated nebulous environments like startups and enterprise companies in the midst of switching from waterfall to agile.

As for tools. I love Figma! I'm also well versed in other prototyping tools like Sketch, and collaborative software like Miro, Mural, and Figjam. I typically use Adobe Creative Suite for visual assets.

  • With a background in fine art painting and sculpture, I possess a keen visual perspective and a passion for creativity. To further explore experiential problem-solving, I obtained a User Experience certification from U.C. Berkeley ext.

As a design consultant at frog, I applied Human-Centered Design principles to develop holistic brand strategies for Fortune 50 and Global 500 clients, creating product illustration systems, blueprints, and journey maps. In a prior role at a real estate startup, I specialized in strategic product design, navigating complex matching algorithms and optimizing associated processes.

In essence, I thrive on complexity.
